Originally conceived as a renovation project to an existing Junior/Senior High School, it became apparent during the planning phase that by removing the original 1950’s wing and developing classrooms around the “core” facilities such as the gym, industrial arts areas and auditorium, would result in a substantial savings not only in costs but in project scheduling.

The project, as conceived, gives new life to a school that at least a part of had outlived its usefulness. Reorganizing the existing core spaces and providing life safety features such as egress and lighting defined the project as it developed. Creation of a sense of arrival in the development of an entirely new entrance provides a new sense of place to the entire complex.
