Additions to the Marcia Buker Elementary School Richmond, Maine
completion 1987
Creating an entry focal point was just the start of this renovation project in Richmond. In addition a new Library/Media Center, a Multipurpose Room and new program spaces were added. Originally one entered through a nondescript door along a stark 280 ft. long elevation. The concept of creating a “little red schoolhouse” complete with a faux bell tower gives the renovated school a sense of fun and excitement.
Upon entering the school yard through an arched gate one is drawn into the building under the faux bell tower, past new administrative offices and academic areas finally arriving at a new Library and Multipurpose area to the rear.
